Ching. Now in its sixth edition, this essential guide offers a comprehensive introduction to using graphic tools and drafting conventions to translate architectural ideas into effective visual presentations, using hundreds of the authors distinctive drawings to illustrate the topic effectively. This updated edition includes new information on orthographic projection in relation to 3D models, and revised explanations of line weights, scale and dimensioning, and perspective drawing to clarify some of the most difficult concepts. New examples of modern furniture, APA facilities, and presentation layout provide more up-to-date visuals, and the Reference Center features all new animations, videos, and practice exercises. Architectural graphics are key tools for conveying design through representation on paper or on screen, and this book is the ultimate guide to mastering the skill, then applying your talent to create more effective design communication. Understand multiview, paraline, and perspective drawing Master interior sections using a variety of techniques Render tonal value, enhance depth, and convey illumination Develop professional-quality layouts for presentations Architectural graphics both inform the design process and serve as the means by which a design is interpreted and built. Complete mastery of the tools and conventions is essential to the successful outcome of any project, and mistakes can cause confusion, time delays, increased costs, and possible catastrophe. Architectural Graphics is the comprehensive guide to professional architectural drawing, with insight from a leading authority in the field. FRANCIS D.K. CHING is one of the leading authorities on architectural design drawing around the world. His numerous bestselling works have been translated into over seventeen languages and are regarded as classics for their renowned graphic presentation. He is a registered architect and Professor Emeritus at the University of Washington in Seattle.

My work uses EEG data to determine the perceptual quality of videos and images which is of paramount importance for most graphics algorithms. This is especially important given the gap between perceived quality of an image and physical accuracy. This thesis begins by introducing the fundamentals of EEG measurements and its neurophysiological basis. Following this introduction, I present a novel method for determining perceived image and video quality from a single trial of EEG data in response to typical rendering artifacts. I also explore the use of EEG for direct neural feedback and present a neural-feedback loop for the optimization of rendering parameters for images and videos. I conclude with an outlook on what the future of EEG in graphics may hold. Maryam Mustafa is a researcher at the Computer Graphics Lab of Technische Universität Braunschweigs Computer Science Department. Her research interests include human-computer interaction, perceptual graphics, and computer graphics and cognition. Mustafa received an MEng in computer science from Cornell University, and a PhD from the Technische Universität Braunschweig.

This pocket atlas explains how to use pulmonary graphics as a valuable adjunct for patient management. Actual patterns commonly encountered in neonatal practice are presented side-by-side with schematic illustrations that take apart the graphic and identify its key features, accompanied by brief explanatory text. The book addresses the principles of real-time pulmonary graphics, discusses waveforms and loops, and examines how both are affected by mechanical ventilation and disease states. A series of clinical cases brings key points to life. Steven M. Donn, MD Professor of Pediatrics University of Michigan Medical School Division of Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine C.S. This new edition to the classic book by ggplot2 creator Hadley Wickham highlights compatibility with knitr and RStudio. ggplot2 is a data visualization package for R that helps users create data graphics, including those that are multi-layered, with ease. With ggplot2, its easy to: produce handsome, publication-quality plots with automatic legends created from the plot specification superimpose multiple layers (points, lines, maps, tiles, box plots) from different data sources with automatically adjusted common scales add customizable smoothers that use powerful modeling capabilities of R, such as loess, linear models, generalized additive models, and robust regression save any ggplot2 plot (or part thereof) for later modification or reuse create custom themes that capture in-house or journal style requirements and that can easily be applied to multiple plots approach a graph from a visual perspective, thinking about how each component of the data is represented on the final plot This book will be useful to everyone who has struggled with displaying data in an informative and attractive way. Some basic knowledge of R is necessary (e.g., importing data into R). ggplot2 is a mini-language specifically tailored for producing graphics, and youll learn everything you need in the book. After reading this book youll be able to produce graphics customized precisely for your problems, and youll find it easy to get graphics out of your head and on to the screen or page. Hadley Wickham is Chief Scientist at RStudio and Assistant Professor of Statistics at Rice University. Hadley is interested in developing computational and cognitive tools for making data preparation, visualization, and analysis easier. He has developed 15 R packages and in 2006 won the John Chambers Award for Statistical Computing for his work on the ggplot and reshape R packages. Carson Sievert is a PhD student in the Department of Statistics at Iowa State University. His work includes R packages for acquiring data from the Web (pitchRx, bbscrapeR, XML2R), designing interactive Web graphics (animint, plotly), and visualizations for exploring statistical models (LDAvis).
